The Institute is focused on the interdisciplinary field of materials science. The focus of its activity consists mainly in basic research of metallic materials. The department focuses on the physical nature of processes taking place in metallic materials during creep, fatigue and creep fatigue interaction and other types of mechanical loading and to research the structure and physical properties of selected materials. In both these areas of research is to clarify the relationship between the behavior and properties of materials and their structural characteristics and mikrostructures.
