Regional Cooperation
South Moravia supports innovation

A year later it was also the first region to create and implement a regional innovation strategy. From this time, a second version was also implement RIS II (2005), whose implemenation was also successfully carried out. It’s implementation was completed in 2008 and will be replaced by a third phase, RIS III (implementation from 2009 – 2013). Activities implemented in both phases of the innovation strategy propelled South Moravia into a leading position in the field of innovation support and innovation business in the Czech Republic.
Brno is the best place for innovation
The CEITEC project is implemented in South Moravia, where historically an optimal structure of universities exists, which is above the norm in Europe. Other than technical and humanities fields, Brno can also boast Veterinary research and a pharmaceutical faculty, which creates the ideal conditions for innovations in these fields. The assumption that Brno can become the best place for innovation is founded on the fact the more than 80,000 students study at 12 universities.
Support for CEITEC at region level
South Moravia has invested more than 500 million crowns into the support of research, development and innovation in the last 5 years and plans to intensive increase investment in this area.
