About event
Macroecology studies biodiversity patterns across large spatial and temporal scales. The rapid development of large databases of plant species co-occurrences in vegetation plots over the last decade has enabled the analyses of patterns of plant diversity at fine spatial scales across continents and globally. The Vegetation Science Group of the Department of Botany and Zoology (MUNI SCI) has established and coordinates the European Vegetation Archive (EVA), the world's largest database of this kind. Data from this database are used for pioneering analyses of patterns of plant species richness, phylogenetic and functional diversity and plant invasions across Europe and worldwide. Some of these studies will be presented in this talk.
