ABOUT US

We Develop Ceramic Materials With Advanced Functional Properties

We develop advanced ceramic materials that can do much more than conventional ceramics. Our research goes beyond achieving high hardness or durability. We can tailor their electrical, optical, mechanical, and biological properties, often combining several functions within a single material. Ceramics can thus respond to an electric field, generate an electrical charge, interact with light, withstand extreme mechanical or thermal loads, or be suitable for contact with human tissue. In our research, we focus not only on the material itself, but on the entire system and the environment in which the resulting solution is intended to operate.

FROM DISCOVERY TO APPLICATION

Our Research Extends Beyond European Borders and Connects With Industry

Our research on transparent ceramics ranks among the best internationally and now provides a foundation for the development of other advanced materials. We have successfully taken the know-how developed at CEITEC BUT beyond academia—through the TriCera spin-off, which develops ceramic–metal composites for security and protective applications, and through the GlaCerHub project, which connects European glass and ceramics research with industry. Our research outcomes therefore extend beyond the laboratory and find their way into real-world applications.
