Social and Behavioural Neuroscience

Social and behavioural neuroscience explores how brain function shapes human behaviour, decision-making, memory, emotions, and the processing of social information. It combines advanced imaging techniques, electrophysiological measurements, and computational analyses to understand how brain networks communicate and how their activity changes in neurological and psychiatric disorders. These insights help us better understand human behaviour and develop more effective diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.

Masaryk Neuroscience Hub

Masaryk Neuroscience Hub (MNH) is a unique research and educational platform at the Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University, established to foster collaboration among basic and clinical neuroscience departments and research groups within the university and beyond. Its mission is to identify synergies, facilitate effective coordination of neuroscience research projects, promote information exchange and knowledge sharing across the Brno neuroscience community, and support a joint grant strategy. MNH also plays a key role in coordinating the doctoral programme in Neuroscience at the Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University.

Multimodal and Functional Imaging Laboratory (MAFIL)

The Multimodal and Functional Imaging Laboratory (MAFIL) is a core facility established at Masaryk University as part of the Central European Institute of Technology (CEITEC) project. The laboratory provides state-of-the-art imaging services primarily for neuroimaging and human brain mapping, while also supporting imaging of other parts of the human body. MAFIL's core expertise is based on advanced human magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) at high magnetic field strengths, including magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS), and electrophysiological techniques, such as high-density electroencephalography (HD-EEG) and simultaneous EEG–MRI acquisition. The facility specializes in structural and functional brain imaging and mapping, reflecting its primary mission to support neuroscience research.
