Consent for the processing of personal data
By giving this consent to the processing of personal data you agree that Masaryk University, Company Registration No.: 00216224, with the registered office at Žerotínovo nám. 9, 611 77 Brno, contact address: CEITEC MU, Kamenice 753/5, 625 00 Brno (hereinafter “Data Controller”) shall process your personal data according to the conditions stated below.
The extent of your personal data processing
The Data Controller shall process your personal data in such extent as it was granted by you regarding marketing activities of the Data Controller, in particular subscription for receiving e-mail, printed or telephone information. The Data Controller shall process the name, surname, e-mail, phone number, address of the place of residence or business, name of the organisation and job position.
Purpose of your personal data processing
The Data Controller shall process your personal data for the purposes stated as follows:
- Direct marketing, i.e. direct sending of marketing information provided by the Data Controller, including sending of commercial information within the meaning of Act No. 480/2004 Coll., on certain information society services, and analyses of your behaviour regarding such commercial information with the aim to provide you with personalised services;
- Disclosing to third parties – partner institutions within CEITEC consortium, namely:

who may use such data for the above mentioned purpose of direct marketing.
Legal ground for personal data processing
The legal ground for data processing is represented by your consent hereto and the fact that your personal data are essential for the fulfilment of individual purposes of direct marketing for which you have subscribed. Personal data are processed in compliance with General Data Protection Regulation – Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council (EU) 2016/679 of 27 April 2016 - (hereinafter “GDPR”).
Personal data processing period
The Data Controller shall process your personal data in connection with the purpose of direct marketing for the period of 5 years from the date when the consent is given to the Data Controller regarding sending e-mail newsletters, or from visiting an event organised by the Data Controller, unless you withdraw such consent.
The right to withdraw consent
You are entitled to withdraw your consent at any time without any justification whatsoever and free of charge, and unsubscribe from the newsletter at: https://www.ceitec.cz/newsletter/unsubscribe/.
You can also withdraw your consent directly from any commercial communication received by e-mail. The withdrawal of consent shall not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal. Similarly, the withdrawal of consent has no effect on processing of personal data processed by the Data Controller on the basis of any other legal ground.
Individuals to whom your data are disclosed
Your personal data shall be disclosed to the Data Controller and their employees, and if need be, the third parties, which are the above stipulated partner institutions forming the CEITEC consortium.

The Data Controller is entitled to require proof of your identity to prevent any unauthorised access to your personal data. With the aim to increase the quality of services and keep records on fulfilment of legal obligations of the Data Controller, the whole communication between you and the Data Controller may be monitored.

Your rights related to the protection of your personal data
You may withdraw your consent, correct or complete your personal data, require restrictions of the processing, make objections or complaints against processing of personal data, require transmission of data, ask for access to your personal data. It can be done through gdpr@ceitec.muni.cz; no sanctions or disadvantages shall follow. Furthermore, you have a right to be notified about any security breach of your personal data, their erasure, and you have also further rights stipulated in the GDPR.
Right to make an objection
You have a right to make an objection against processing of your personal data if the Data Controller processes the data for the purpose of direct marketing or against disclosing the data to the third parties as stated above. The objection shall be delivered to the Data Controller. In case you make an objection against processing of personal data for the purpose of direct marketing or disclosure of the data to the third parties as stated above, the Data Controller stops processing your data until they demonstrate serious interests for further processing where such interests prevail over your interests for fundamental rights and freedoms, or for determination, performance or defence of legal claims. Further information regarding this right can be found in particular in Article 21 of the GDPR.
Right to make a claim with the monitoring body
You can make a claim anytime with the monitoring body regarding processing of your personal data or not fulfilling the obligation on the part of the Data Controller resulting from the GDPR. The monitoring body in the Czech Republic is represented by the Office for Personal Data Protection, with the registered office at: Pplk. Sochora 27, 170 00 Praha 7, e-mail address: www.uoou.cz.
Obligation to disclose personal data / Consequences of not disclosing personal data
You disclose your personal data freely. There is no obligation for you to disclose them. In case you do not disclose your personal data, no sanctions shall be imposed against you. Nevertheless, if you will not disclose your personal data to the Data Controller, they will not be able to send you individual commercial information which you desire to receive (e.g. if the Data Controller does not have your e-mail address, they will not be able to send you newsletters or invitations for conferences). It is completely at your own discretion whether you wish to obtain such information or not.
