DIRECTOR’S DECISION CEITEC BUT in Brno No. 01/2025 adjusting the study schedule of the academic year 2025/2026 for the doctoral study program “Advanced Materials and Nanosciences”
In accordance with Art. 3, para. 6 of the Study and Examination Regulations of BUT in Brno and in accordance with the Rector’s Decision No. 24/2017, I hereby announce the academic year schedule for the doctoral study program “Advanced Materials and Nanosciences” provided by the Central European Institute of Technology of BUT in Brno as follows:
- Beginning of the academic year 2025/2026: September 1, 2025
- End of the academic year 2025/2026: August 31, 2026
Winter Semester
- Classes: September 15 – December 12, 2025 (13 weeks)
- Group teaching in Doctoral Study*: September 29 – December 5, 2025 (10 weeks)
- No teaching – public holidays:
- September 28, 2025 – Day of Czech Statehood
- October 28, 2025 – Establishment of Czechoslovakia
- November 17, 2025 – Struggle for Freedom and Democracy Day
- Christmas holidays: December 24, 2025 – January 2, 2026
- Examination period: January 5 – February 6, 2026
- Deadline for study check (for continuation of studies): February 16, 2026
Summer Semester
- Classes: February 9 – May 8, 2026 (13 weeks)
- Group teaching in Doctoral Study*: February 23 – May 1, 2026 (10 weeks)
- No teaching – public holidays:
- April 3, 2026 – Good Friday
- April 6, 2026 – Easter Monday
- May 1, 2026 – Labour Day
- May 8, 2026 – Victory Day
- Examination period: May 4 – June 3, 2026
- Summer holidays: June 29 – August 31, 2026
- Deadline for study check (for continuation to the next year): July 3, 2026
Additional Information
- Entrance examinations for the doctoral study program for the academic year 2026/2027 will be defined by the Guideline Conditions of Admission to Study for AY 2026/2027 in the doctoral study program “Advanced Materials and Nanosciences” at CEITEC BUT.
- Evaluation deadlines:
- Evaluation after the 1st and 3rd year of study: beginning of November 2025
- State Doctoral Examination after the 2nd year of study: end of November 2025
- Substitute term for Evaluation and State Doctoral Examination in extraordinary cases, upon approval by the evaluation committee: January/February 2026
- Deadlines for submission and defense of dissertations are set in accordance with students’ individual study plans.
*Note: Group teaching in doctoral studies takes place in those courses that are included in the individual study plans of at least 5 students. Other courses are taught in the form of individual consultations. Exams are organized in a similar manner.
