AMN Seminar Series 2023: Application of laser spectroscopy in combustion diagnosis

About event

With the increasing demand for ecological environment quality, the emission and control of conventional and unconventional pollutants has become the focus of attention, especially from the fuel combustion processes. The whole process monitoring of pollutants is an important means to understand their emission status and grasp their form, structure, and distribution law. It is also an important basis for developing pollutant control technology. Temperature and combustion products are important parameters in the diagnosis of the combustion flow field. To realize real-time and accurate monitoring of environmental pollutants, it is necessary to develop an advanced non-contact multi-parameter detection method.

LIBS is an element quantification technology based on atomic emission spectroscopy, which has the advantages of fast, remote, in-situ detection, no sample preparation, and multi-element synchronous analysis. TDLAS technology is an advanced measurement technology based on gas absorption spectroscopy, which has the advantages of high detection accuracy, good sensitivity, fast response, low detection limit, and non-invasive detection. LIBS and TDLAS technologies have great advantages and development prospects in element detection and quantification, combustion status, and in situ detection of pollutants, respectively. Therefore, we apply LIBS and TDLAS technologies in the detection of coal quality, combustion status, and pollution monitoring in coal-fired power plants.
