On June 19th, we had the pleasure of participating in the traditional Vědafest in Prague, the largest outdoor science festival in the Czech Republic. Since 2011, this event has brought together universities, academic departments, and leisure centres.

The CEITEC BUT team led by Lucy Vojtová showed children how to prepare gel balls of different colours and sizes, as well as what they can do and what to use them for. In addition to filling bubble tea, these micro- and nano-spheres can be used in medicine for controlled transport of drugs and even cells. In the future, miniature gel balls can actually be used to treat diseases such as diabetes.

Our colleagues from the Faculty of Chemistry at BUT joined us with their stand, showing kids how chemistry can be used to create delicious recipes.
