Bio

Štěpánka Vaňáčová has been working at CEITEC Masaryk University as a research group leader since 2011. Her team focuses on ribonucleic acid (RNA), which regulates key processes in living organisms. Specifically, they study how RNA is regulated after its formation, how it is regulated in cells and how its quality is controlled. Their research also includes the study of processes in yeast and mammals, including mechanisms that affect RNA stability and function. They are also working to identify the ways in which RNA is modified, which is important for understanding many diseases and biological functions.
Štěpánka Vaňáčová completed her MSc and PhD at Charles University in Prague and has worked as a postdoctoral researcher at UCLA and the University of Basel. Since 2019, she is a member of EMBO, an organization of leading European scientists.
