A group of students from Masaryk University and VUT called Generation Mendel presented their project in the international iGEM competition. iGEM stands from International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) and Generation Mendel showcased a project in the field of synthetic biology in the category Environment. This year, 249 teams representing 4,800 students from 36 countries took part in the competition. The students genetically modified the bacteria Bacillus subtillis to integrate it into the device they designed intending to destroy Cyanobacteria and the toxins it produces in Brno Reservoir.
