After Admission to Study

  1. The first step is now the recognition of your foreign education.

First of all, you need to finish your Master's degree and have a Master's diploma. Please take the following steps as soon as you have Master’s diploma ready, including any supplements.

Once you have your Master’s diploma (including supplements) ready, you can start the recognition process:

  1. See this link: https://www.vutbr.cz/en/study-options/recognition#assessment
  • Have your Master's diploma verified in the country which has issued it. (If you have studied in a foreign country, verification is done by that country.)
  • Please verify the officially certified copy of your Master's diploma and also the supplements (Do not use the originals of your documents because we will keep them for study department use.)
  1. According to the Hague Convention, legalization of documents made by the embassy is not required for the signatories of the convention; it is sufficient to provide an apostille issued by the authorised body of the country where the institution which issued the certificate is based (“apostille authority”). The list of apostille authorities is available on the Hague Convention website: http://hcch.e-vision.nl – Authorities, per Convention, Convention No. 12, see: http://hcch.e-vision.nl/index_en.php?act=conventions.authorities&cid=41

  1. We recommended that after the "apostille authority" process, you send the verified documents to us for control by email

→ documents which we need: a certified copy of your Master's diploma with any supplements in English – certified by the Apostille

  1. Send the official request.

The written request of a foreign university graduate contains:

  • name and surname of the foreign university graduate
  • nationality
  • address of permanent residence
  • address of reported residence in the Czech Republic (if applicable)
  • name of the University attended and its seat (address)
  • date of commencement and completion of the studies
  • name of the programme and field of studies
  • date of submission and signature of the graduate of the foreign university (if the request is submitted by a representative of the graduate of the foreign university, the representative must provide an officially certified power of attorney)
  • the purpose for which the applicant is applying for recognition (whether for the purpose of further studies or the exercise of a profession in the Czech Republic).

The applicant must also pay a fee:

  • you can request to verify your Master's degree only for the purpose of studies at Brno University of Technology – the fee is CZK 750/€30
  • OR you can request to verify your Master's degree for the purpose of studies at any University in the Czech Republic– the fee is CZK 3000

After the "apostille authority" process, you can send these verified documents that we need (your Master’s diploma with supplements in English – certified by the Apostille) to our address:

CEITEC BUT

Study department

Purkynova 123

AFTER THAT/BASED ON THAT, YOU WILL BE OFFICIALLY ADMITTED TO STUDY AT CEITEC. Only then can we send you the admission to study and other necessary documents (within the accommodation contract), and based on this, you can apply for the visa.

PLEASE NOTE THAT WE CANNOT SEND YOU AN OFFICIAL ADMISSION LETTER AND OTHER SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS UNLESS YOUR FOREIGN EDUCATION IS RECOGNIZED!!!

For the needs of your University, we can only send you the acceptance letter, but that is not an official admission to study. We can only send you the official admission to study in the PhD programme at CEITEC BUT AFTER you have fulfilled all the conditions (including finishing your Master’s programme).

As all these steps can only be taken once you have finished your Master’s. If you finish in the summer, it is possible to start with these steps later, but please note that the deadline for enrolment to study in this academic year, 2025/2026, is August 31 in that academic year.
