Methodological and Instrumental Development of Experimental Approaches

CURRENT RESEARCH FOCUS

Methodological and Instrumental Development of Experimental Approaches

Our current efforts are focused on the methodological and technical advancement of experimental approaches. In the longer term, we aim to enable the visualization and real-time tracking of fast processes, including the readout and control of quantum states. The objective is a gradual transition from predominantly static measurements toward a dynamic description of processes occurring on timescales ranging from microseconds to seconds, once these approaches are reliably established. At the same time, the development of new instrumentation continuously gives rise to incremental technical and methodological improvements emerging from everyday experimental practice. These developments are not the result of targeted measurement optimization, but rather a natural outcome of ongoing research activities and the active involvement of students, particularly those from technical and engineering disciplines

Understanding Natural Phenomena as the Foundation of Our Research

OUR OBJECTIVE

Understanding Natural Phenomena as the Foundation of Our Research

The primary objective of our research group remains fundamental research focused on the investigation of physical phenomena that are still insufficiently explored. The aforementioned developments serve primarily to facilitate the implementation of long-term and experimentally demanding measurements. Looking ahead, we intend to continue focusing on a deeper understanding of fundamental natural processes—particularly how molecules interact with one another, how they are influenced by their environment, and how they respond to various external stimuli. The publication of results in leading international scientific journals, together with the dissemination of knowledge to students and early-career researchers, represents a natural outcome of this research effort and an essential mechanism for fostering further scientific collaboration

Brno as a Hub for Cutting-Edge Research and Collaboration

EDUCATION AND INNOVATION

Brno as a Hub for Cutting-Edge Research and Collaboration

An integral part of our activities is a stronger engagement in educational and outreach initiatives, including lectures at secondary schools and universities, collaboration on student and high-school projects, open day events, and communication through national media. The goal is not broad, indiscriminate popularization, but rather the meaningful engagement of an intellectually curious audience and the motivation of a new generation to pursue studies and research in the field of magnetic resonance. Owing to the unique experimental methods and instrumentation developed at CEITEC BUT, Brno has become a sought-after destination for specialized measurements, while simultaneously serving as a fertile environment for the emergence of new scientific ideas and the development of international collaborations. Our laboratories are regularly visited by researchers from Europe, the Americas, and Asia, who come to perform experiments that are not feasible at their home institutions

Sharing Scientific Knowledge in an International Context

GLOBAL COLLABORATION

Sharing Scientific Knowledge in an International Context

We present the results of our research at leading international conferences focused on magnetic resonance, spectroscopy, physics, and chemistry, where we are regularly invited to contribute. Participation in these meetings is considered an essential component of scientific work, as it enables the exchange of methodological approaches, the discussion of current results, and their critical evaluation within the international scientific community. International conferences and personal interactions with colleagues from other institutions are also key to establishing long-term scientific collaborations, particularly in areas where close integration of experimental research with theory and related applications is required
