AMN Seminar Series: PEDOT:PSS Blends as a Platform for Functional OECTs

About Event

Organic electrochemical transistors (OECTs) based on PEDOT:PSS provide a versatile platform for introducing additional functions through a remarkably simple approach: blending another polymer or molecular component into the active layer. We have explored this strategy to control interfacial properties, ion transport, and device functions while examining how the added components affect the structure and electronic properties of PEDOT:PSS. Recent work on zwitterionic polymer/PEDOT:PSS blends demonstrates how such a simple modification can introduce antifouling properties while retaining the basic electronic structure of PEDOT:PSS. These studies establish blending as a practical and transferable approach to functional OECT materials. More recently, our focus has expanded toward spectroscopic analysis of the ionic and electronic processes underlying OECT operation.
