THERAPEUTIC DEVELOPMENT

More Accurate Testing Without Animal Models

One of our key projects is the Czech–Austrian ACCURE project, which aims to develop a functional full-thickness human skin model. This model enables drug testing under laboratory conditions and helps reduce the need for animal testing. At the same time, we are developing additional in vitro models of tissues and diseases, including models for the study of osteoarthritis and cancer. These models provide a more accurate platform for disease research and the validation of new therapeutic approaches

REGENERATION AND TREATMENT

New Materials for Challenging Clinical Applications

We are developing injectable bone cements designed for the treatment and prevention of bone infections, as well as for bonding bone fragments in the form of a “bone glue.” Both materials are currently being evaluated in preclinical studies. An important part of our research is also the development of fully biodegradable hydrogels that serve as carriers for natural and synthetic bioactive substances. These materials have applications in both human and veterinary medicine and open up new possibilities for the treatment of infectious diseases

3D AND 4D BIOPRINTING

The Future of Personalized Medicine

We explore the use of hydrogels in combination with living cells to advance 3D and 4D bioprinting technologies and develop dynamic biomaterials capable of responding to environmental changes and altering their properties over time. In the future, these technologies may enable the production of personalized implants tailored to the specific needs of individual patients. Our long-term vision also includes the establishment of a Bioprinting Training Center, which will support researchers working with biological 3D printers and promote professional education in this rapidly evolving field. Our goal is to translate the technologies we develop into clinical practice and contribute to the advancement of personalized medicine
