Lecture Seminar Series

Mendel Centre Seminar: Functional Phenomics of Plant Assimilate Partitioning: Importance for Development, Stress Responses & Biotechnology

About event

The research group uses a systems biology approach to study the metabolic and hormonal regulation of plant growth and development and the reaction towards pathogen infection, abiotic stress and beneficial microbes. Through integrative phenomics we combine functional approaches with transgenics, biochemistry, instrumental analytics, genetics, non-invasive optical sensing with semi-high-throughput cell physiological phenotyping via enzyme activity profiling. Thus, the underlying mechanisms are addressed, with special attention to carbohydrate and antioxidant metabolism and the networked signal¬ transduction pathways, to elucidate their eco-physiological significance The biotechnological and agronomic application of the results aim to improve stress resilience for sustainable and environment friendly crop production.
