We perform direct comparison of measured CT data with a nominal CAD model or reference volumetric data. The method enables precise identification and quantification of geometric deviations of the actual part from the specified geometry and provides a clear visualization of their spatial distribution.

Method

The analysis is based on the comparison of volumetric CT data with a CAD model or a second volumetric data set. The analyzed data are color-coded according to the magnitude of deviation from the nominal or reference geometry, enabling rapid identification of critical areas and evaluation of geometric deviations.

The analysis provides a color-coded deviation map complemented by statistical evaluation. Critical areas can be examined in detail using both 2D cross-sections and 3D visualizations.

Equipment

The analysis is performed using industrial computed tomography (CT) systems and the specialized Nominal/Actual Comparison module in VGSTUDIO MAX. The results can be presented in a report containing statistical data as well as 2D and 3D visualizations of critical areas.
