Lecture Seminar Series

PI Seminar: Prenylated phenols as interesting bioactive substances. New drugs on horizon?

About event

Prenylated phenols are interesting group of plant secondary metabolites. They represent unique class of compounds based on substitution of variable phenolic core by modified or unmodified side chain.
The main sources of prenylated phenolics are plants of Cannabaceae, Moraceae or Euphorbiaceae families. The bioactivity is variable and some of these compounds could be assigned as pleiotropic. The literature shows especially cytotoxic, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial activities.
The lecture will bring short overview of the work done on these compounds on Faculty of Pharmacy.
