RESEARCH SPECIALIST

 

  

    

Who are we?

Our research group focuses on the study of macromolecular interactions of ribosomes in the context of translation control and cotranslational processes. We use methods of molecular biology, heterologous protein expression and purification, human tissue cultures, and structural biology methods, particularly cryo-EM. We are looking for a highly motivated colleague who would assist us with technical and experimental support for our ongoing research projects, and potentially also conduct independent research and lead their own project (upon agreement).

 

You will be responsible for:

  • Laboratory work involving cell and tissue cultures, as well as protein production and purification
  • Conducting experiments to assist other team members or as a part of independent research
  • Assisting with the day-to-day operations of the laboratory
  • Assisting with the purchase and inventory of consumables
  • Training students

 

You’re the right fit for us if you have:

  • A university degree (M.A./Ph.D.) in structural biology, microbiology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or a related field
  • Experience working with yeast cultures and their transformation
  • Experience working with microorganisms, molecular cloning, and E. coli transformations
  • Previous experience in a biochemistry laboratory, experience in Research of translation, structural biology, or working with human cell cultures is a major advantage
  • Good English communication skills are essential
  • Reliability, attention to detail, team spirit, and a willingness to learn new methods
  • Computer skills (MS Windows and Office required)
  • Experience with laboratory operations, preparing solutions, media etc.
  • High motivation to contribute to cutting-edge research
