CEITEC MU and CEITEC VETUNI invite you to a seminar Kalbfleisch T: The Post-Genome Era: How Did We Get Here, and Where We Are Going.
Ted Kalbfleisch is a Professor and the Janet H. Koller Endowed Chair of Equine Bioinformatics in the Department of Veterinary Science, at the University of Kentucky. He received his PhD in Physical Chemistry in 1994 from Boston University. He is a bioinformatician and his work is focused on building infrastructure to support genetic and genomic research on horses and other important animal species. His lab has built reference quality assemblies for rats, and the current T2T assemblies for both the horse and the donkey. The horse T2T assembly is the current horse reference genome. He is currently leading the USDA/NIFA funded Blueprint Grant to create a pangenome for the horse and other equids.
