Bio

Irena Rektorová leads the Applied Neuroscience research group at CEITEC Masaryk University. Her research focuses on early biomarkers of neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s diseases. She also studies cognitive neurology and innovative non-invasive brain stimulation methods, such as transcranial magnetic stimulation and other non-invasive approaches leading to modulation of brain plasticity, aimed at improving patients’ cognitive and motor functions. She has also explored the positive impact of movement and dance on cognitive abilities. 

She is the author of more than 140 scientific publications and is actively involved in training PhD students in neuroscience and neurology. She is a board member of the European Academy of Neurology (EAN). Her work significantly contributes to the understanding of neurodegenerative diseases and the development of new therapeutic approaches.
