Workshop: An Author’s Guide to Scientific Publishing in Biomedicine
We would like to invite you to the workshop “Karger Publishers: An Author’s Guide to Scientific Publishing in Biomedicine and Checking adherence to the principles of transparency and best practice in scholarly journals as a library service” (for annotation see below) organised by the University Campus Library.
The workshop is held on September 26, 2019, at 9 am - 12 pm in room 432, building A17, University Campus Bohunice, Kamenice 5. The workshop will be held in English.
The first part will be led by Mr Moritz Thommen, head of Academic & Research Markets at Karger Publisher, while the second part by dr. Kratochvíl and Mgr. Plch, librarians of the University Campus Library.
Due to the room capacity, all participants are requested to register for the seminar.
The Karger Workshop is a session designed for both students just starting their professional careers and writing their first scientific papers, as well as scientists looking for a quick refresher how to publish a research paper. The first part of the session focuses on the publishing process: shining a light onto the mechanisms of research publishing and giving an insight into the process of selecting the right journal for one’s article and providing detailed information on the review process. The second part offers a variety of tips and tricks concerning the manuscript itself: from basic structure to detailed information including a variety of useful examples and advice on how to be effective in writing a research article.
After the Karger session, the participants will be acquainted with so-called predatory journals and their recognition.
