Zbyněk Dostál has been working as a junior researcher at CEITEC - Central European Institute of Technology, Brno University of Technology, Czech Republic. His main interest is in developments of holographic microscopes for live cell biology, especially on the optomechanical design, image processing, and robotics. He received his MSc degree from the Faculty of mechanical engineering, Brno University of technology with the thesis based on ray tracing and mechanical design of holographic microscope. The doctoral degree he received on the same university. The topics of his work was a development of self-alignment procedures for holographic microscopes with a broad polychromatic light source. As a postdoc, he develops these topics for new generations of holographic microscopes. During doctoral studies, he was on an internship abroad at the School of Physics and Astronomy, University of St Andrews, UK. 

He is an author of papers and worldwide patents on the field of holographic microscopy. He obtained Werner von Siemens price (prize for the most important result of development or innovation ) in 2013 and Czech Brain Awards (Kapsch prize - Invence prize) in 2016.
