CEITEC Brno University of Technology is part of the CEITEC Research Center of Scientific Excellence. Since 2011, it has been a key part of a state-of-the-art research infrastructure with unique equipment and conditions for basic and applied research in the field of advanced nanotechnologies, advanced materials and cybernetics.
There are three research areas at CEITEC BUT, namely Advanced Nanotechnologies and Microtechnologies, Advanced Materials and Technical Cybernetics, Instrumentation and System Integration, where a total of 19 research groups dealing with ceramic materials, advanced polymeric materials or smart nanotools, experimental biophotonics are currently involved. preparation and characterization of nanostructures, development of methods of analysis and measurement, as well as characterization of materials, advanced coatings, quantum technologies, molecular nanostructures on surfaces, low-dimensional nanomaterials, epitaxial materials and nanostructures and THz spectroscopy, technical cybernetics, instrumentation and system integration.
The main priorities of CEITEC BUT include not only international research cooperation, but also its interdisciplinary character. Core Facilities CEITEC Nano, which operate in an open access mode, provide ideal conditions for solving multidisciplinary issues, as their equipment can also be used by external users, institutions or industry partners.
In 2018, two ERC grants were launched at CEITEC BUT, one of which focuses on streamlining the treatment of cancer and the other on the development of new spectroscopy and microscopy technologies. The third ERC grant was launched in 2021 and addresses breakthrough research and development of wireless nerve stimulation in the human body.
A significant success is also the acquisition of the RICAIP project. Its mission is to build a center for the advanced industry of the future in Brno, Prague and Germany.
