An Artificial Graft From CEITEC Will Facilitate Treatment After Lumbar Spine Surgery

Since autumn 2020, experts from the Advanced Ceramic Materials research group at CEITEC BUT, led by Klára Částková, have been working on an artificial 3D graft for lumbar spine operations. In collaboration with doctors and researchers from Masaryk University, they want to create a replacement for intervertebral discs that will allow colonization by stem cells and thus accelerate bone ingrowth, which will enable a firm and permanent connection of two adjacent vertebrae.
