Speakers

Pavla Hubálková
Pavla Hubálková WIRED Czech Republic, Czech National Radio
Pavla Hubálková is a Czech science journalist and science communicator who writes about research and technology for media including WIRED Czech Republic and other outlets. She studied clinical biochemistry at the University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague and earned a Ph.D. in neuroscience at the Third Faculty of Medicine, Charles University. After a Fulbright research stay at Northwestern University in Chicago, she shifted from a planned research career to science communication and now focuses on making scientific topics accessible to the public and advocating for equal opportunities in science.
Julian Petersen
Julian Petersen Leipzig University Medical Center
Julian is a biomedical researcher passionate about advancing skeletal and craniofacial biology through interdisciplinary approaches. His work focuses on the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying bone and dental development and regeneration. Using advanced mouse genetics, high-resolution micro-CT imaging, and single-cell and spatial transcriptomics, his laboratory investigates how mechanical forces, metabolic dysfunction, and genetic alterations converge to shape bone and dental tissues. A central goal of his research is to bridge fundamental molecular insights with clinically relevant strategies aimed at improving skeletal and periodontal regeneration.
Michaela Vojníková
Michaela Vojníková Mendel University
Michaela Vojníková holds a PhD in nanotechnology, with a strong focus on nanomedicine and nanorobotics. Her research centers on the design and physicochemical characterisation of advanced nanocarriers, including liposomes, lipid nanoparticles, ferritin-based systems, biohybrid platforms, and nanoscale robotic systems engineered for controlled and targeted delivery. She is particularly interested in understanding how physicochemical parameters influence biological performance in vitro and in vivo. She is junior PI of the Nanomedicine Lab at Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry (MENDELU), where she combines scientific rigor with curiosity and creativity. Michaela values interdisciplinary collaboration and enjoys building teams that connect chemistry, biology, physics, and engineering to solve complex biomedical challenges.
Ľudmila Kvašňovská
Ľudmila Kvašňovská Masaryk University
Fascinated by the human brain and by what happens when something goes wrong, Ľudmila is studying medicine with a research focus at Masaryk University. Academically focused on clinical neuroscience, she is a member of the Applied Neuroscience Group at CEITEC MU. Her passion for science began in high school, leading to multiple national and international awards across the EU and the US, as well as research internships in Japan, Spain, and the Czech Republic. Alongside her studies, she works with LEAF, a nonprofit organization expanding educational opportunities in Slovakia.
Peter Fabian
Peter Fabian CEITEC Masaryk University
Peter Fabian is a group leader at Masaryk University, where he leads a research team in developmental biology and metabolism using zebrafish models and modern genetic approaches. As a PI, he is committed to building an inclusive and psychologically safe research culture where everyone can thrive, grounded in the belief that great science starts with trust, purpose, and people who feel valued
Eva Muchová
Eva Muchová University of Chemistry and Technology, Prague
Eva is a theoretical chemist focusing on the modelling of optical and time-resolved X-ray spectroscopies and photoinduced processes in realistic environments. Her work combines theory and development of new approaches with experiments at large facilities such as synchrotrons. In addition to research, she actively engages in discussions on the role of women in science, drawing on her personal experience of returning to academia after an extended parental leave.
