Bio
Jan Přibyl, head of the Nanobiotechnology Core Facility at CEITEC Masaryk University, specializes in advanced microscopy techniques (e.g. atomic force microscopy, Raman and fluorescence microscopy), and especially in mechanical and chemical mapping of biological samples. Chemical mapping allows him, for example, to identify the composition of microplastics or to describe the properties of new nanomaterials. His work focuses on the study of biological processes at the single nanometer level, which helps other scientists in developing biosensors, studying drug effects or understanding selected heart diseases.
In addition to research, he is actively involved in teaching and mentoring students. The laboratory he leads is part of the Czech Infrastructure for Integrative Structural Biology (CIISB), which provides a high-technology facility for research in nanotechnology and modern biology.
