About this position: 

We're excited to announce an open PhD student position in Petr Tesina's Research Group! If you're passionate about studying human translation control, this is the perfect opportunity for you. Our research project focuses on investigating the structures of ribosomal complexes involved in this fascinating process.

You'll have access to state-of-the-art cryo-EM instruments at our local core facility, available for regular use. Plus, comprehensive training in cryo-EM techniques will be provided to the successful candidate. Our lab has recently secured substantial third-party funding, including an ERC Starting Grant and an EMBO Installation Grant, so we're well-equipped to support your research.

We're seeking a creative, independent, and motivated individual with relevant experience in fields like structural biology, biochemistry, biophysics, or molecular biology. If you have a background in structural biology and translation, we especially encourage you to apply.

 

The ideal candidate profile: 

Must-have: 

  • MSc or equivalent degree (preferably in Life Sciences)
  • Strong interest in structural biology
  • Experience with structural biology, biochemistry and molecular biology methods is a strong plus as well as programming skills
  • Strong English language skills – both spoken and written

 

Nice-to-have: 

  • Experience with human cell cultures
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Motivation and a collaborative mindset
