LABORATORY

Drive and Power Electronics Laboratory

The laboratory is primarily designed for testing drives and power electronics, as well as for optimizing and tuning control algorithms for electric motors and for development in the field of autonomous mobility. The research team implements real-time control systems for controlling car electric motors and drives of various types of electrical devices. Among other things, the group also focuses on optimizing inverter control algorithms and analyzing communication protocols and buses at the physical layer level. The ability to develop custom control units and implement artificial intelligence algorithms enables the team to achieve innovative new solutions. Among the group's notable achievements is real-time diagnostics of electric drives for predictive maintenance and fault-tolerant control. In addition, our team has also contributed to research on intelligent thermal management of electric vehicles, including cooling systems for the electric drive and battery.

Robotics and Telepresence Laboratory

The laboratory focuses on the research and development of advanced mobile robotic systems for field conditions in military and civilian applications, as well as in biomedical engineering. The robots make use of artificial intelligence, telepresence, and 5G networks. Among other things, the group is developing expertise in areas such as the development of smart systems and drone configuration, visual telepresence and augmented reality, multispectral environmental measurement for real-time imaging, precise localization and navigation in outdoor environments, and multispectral optical scanning of the human body. Technologies, devices, and systems are developed with an emphasis on delivering complete solutions that can be applied in real-world practice. Notable research and development outcomes include prototypes of mobile inspection robots for heavy terrain and extreme conditions. These robots are easy to decontaminate, withstand vibrations and impacts, and comply with MIL-STD standards.

Intelligent Sensors Laboratory

The laboratory focuses on the development of advanced measurement techniques and smart sensors. The research team has extensive expertise in processing various types of signals (such as optical signals, sound, vibration, acoustic emission, etc.) measured primarily under industrial conditions. The acquired data is then used for predictive machine diagnostics, extending component lifespan, saving energy, improving the efficiency of production processes, and more. In addition, we are able to measure and process other non-electrical quantities, including temperature and surface roughness. The team also develops sensors for electrical quantities used in power electronics, as well as sensors for mechanical quantities used in electric drives. Among the team's significant projects is the development of proprietary intelligent measurement and sensor systems for real-time diagnostics. We collaborate on development with leading international technology companies such as ABB, Honeywell, and Thermo Fisher Scientific.
