Life Sciences Seminar Series

The Faculties of Life Sciences at Masaryk University have joined together to host an external seminar series of luminary scientists. MU LSSS mainly focuses on the currently growing fields that combine modern methods of biophysics, computational modeling, imaging, biochemistry, and molecular biology with “more classical” disciplines such as microbiology, cell biology, physiology, genetics, toxicology, developmental and evolutionary biology, and medicine.

The purpose of the seminar series is to:

  • invite renowned speakers from abroad to Brno to establish and develop professional contacts;
  • create a seminar series of excellence, which will inspire and motivate both scientists and students at MU; and
  • promote mutual contacts and interaction between individual labs/departments working at University Campus Bohunice.

The seminars are held at the University Campus Bohunice (A11/132) on Thursday afternoons from 16:00-17:00. This seminar series also includes the Mendel Lectures. More information on the Mendel Lectures can be found HERE.

You are cordially invited to attend the MU Life Sciences Seminar Series in 2019!

Nominations

MU Life Sciences Seminar Series (MU LSSS) program is created for the Life Sciences academic community in Brno and is fully dependent on the collaboration and co-participation of individual scientists across faculties and institutes.

The MU LSSS committee would like to encourage you to nominate speakers for the MU LSSS series: Spring 2019/Autumn 2019.

Who is a suitable candidate? For example any of the following:
- Leader of your field
- Someone who inspired you by a lecture at an international meeting
- Person who changes paradigm by combining various approaches
- Scientist who recently published breakthrough results in top tier journals
- Pioneer of your field
- Someone you always wanted to meet but were too shy to introduce yourself to
- Respected colleague with whom you consider for collaboration

The quality and topics of previous speakers are available on our webpages. If you have a question and/or would like to nominate someone, please send the name and contact address of the scientist that you would like to nominate, with a short justification to lus@sci.muni.cz. Please also indicate clearly if you want to have your nominee considered only for Mendel Lectures, or for MU LSSS.

Please note that if your nomination is selected by the MU LSSS Committee and the speaker accepts to come to Brno, then the MU LSSS Committee expects your assistance during the guest´s visit. The MU LSSS will fully cover accommodation for 2 nights and travel costs, including per diems of selected speakers.Thank you very much for your cooperation and we look forward to receiving your nominations.
