Established in 2023, the Biophotonics Core Facility offers cutting-edge imaging services with a strong focus on live-cell analysis. Strategically located with adjacent cell culture capabilities, the facility is designed to streamline workflows and maximize research productivity.
At the heart of our services are two powerful technologies:
- Holographic Incoherent-light-source Quantitative Phase Imaging (hiQPI) using Telight's advanced Q-Phase - originally developed in-house by our own experts. This technology enables label-free live cell imaging and analysis. An additional widefield fluorescence module can be used as a proof of concept in your experiments.
- The Zeiss LSM 980 a powerful, easy-to-use laser scanning confocal microscope is equipped with Airyscan and a multiphoton module, offering unmatched flexibility and imaging power.
- Airyscan super-resolution technology allows for improved resolution, signal-to-noise ratio, and sensitivity beyond traditional confocal limits. With its fast acquisition modes, it's perfect for high-speed live-cell imaging while maintaining exceptional image quality.
- Multiphoton excitation opens the door to deep tissue imaging, reduced phototoxicity, and high-contrast imaging of thick, scattering samples—ideal for organoids, tissue sections, and in vitro 3D cultures.
- Full spectral detection and flexible laser configurations allow for multi-channel imaging, even in complex fluorescent samples, with minimal crosstalk.
Beyond imaging, we provide a complete data ecosystem:
- Long-term data storage.
- Advanced image processing.
- Comprehensive analysis and visualization tools.
We offer tailored support for sample preparation, custom data workflows, and personalized training, all aimed at accelerating your discoveries.
The Biophotonics Core Facility is more than a microscopy service—it's a collaborative environment built to support the evolving challenges of cutting-edge life science research.
The Biophotonics Core Facility is part of the Biological Imaging Section of Czech-Bioimaging, a national research infrastructure in the Czech Republic. Czech-BioImaging brings together leading imaging facilities across the country, covering both biological and medical imaging. It offers open access to a broad range of imaging technologies and expert support for researchers in the Czech Republic and internationally, through a coordinated and unified system.
Our facility is part of the Brno node within Euro-BioImaging, the European research infrastructure for biological and biomedical imaging.
Users from the Czech Republic and abroad may apply access into laboratory and its services via Czech-BioImaging open access - see the Czech-Bioimaging web site and Euro-BioImaging open access.
