At our Biophotonics Core Facility, users can select from a range of advanced microscopes tailored to the specific characteristics of their samples and imaging requirements:

  • Q-Phase (Telight) Holographic Incoherent-light-source Quantitative Phase Imaging (QPI).

QPI is particularly valuable in cell biology, where phase shifts directly correspond to cell dry mass, offering an accurate, quantitative metric for assessing cell health, growth, and behavior—without the need for labels or dyes.

  • LSM 980 (Zeiss) Laser scanning confocal microscope, quipped with Airyscan superresolution detector and a multiphoton module.

The ZEISS LSM 980 is a state-of-the-art system built for the most demanding applications in biomedical imaging. Featuring Airyscan detector and optional Multiphoton mode, this platform is engineered for super-resolution imaging, deep tissue penetration, and highly sensitive fluorescence detection—all in a user-friendly, modular system.

  • Eclipse TS100 (Nikon) Phase contrast microscope primarily for cell culture,  part of the cell culture lab.
  • AxioObserver Life Cell Imaging (Zeiss) Advanced wide-field microscope with fluorescence primarily for cell culture.

The presence of a cell culture laboratory in close proximity to microscopes is a great advantage for the direct preparation of live cell samples.
